Each year in December, applications are invited for Research Assistantships for the following summer at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Western Ontario.
Supervision is available in a variety of areas related to existing research conducted by faculty members, including algebraic topology, category theory, homological algebra, number theory, real and complex analysis, semigroups, algebraic groups, operator theory, graph theory, knot theory and noncommutative geometry. Applicants are not required to specify a particular area of interest.
This program will be run in cooperation with NSERC's Undergraduate Student Research Award program. The awards will be for four months during May August. Salaries will be a minimum of $500 per week for 16 weeks, depending on circumstances, and we will, in addition, provide a travel allowance in accordance with NSERC’s Travel Allowance policy. The awards are subject to availability of funding and depend on the qualifications of the applicants. Each applicant should be an undergraduate student in a mathematical sciences program, and possess an A average.
The closing date for receipt of applications will be set early in January.
