Teaching Training Program
You are halfway through your degree, and your research is on the right track. How can you stand out in the job market before you enjoy a free drink from the Goblet of Knowledge?
The Graduate Program offers a teaching mentorship program, a unique opportunity to help you broaden your career perspectives, develop a competitive CV and connect with the teaching community. This program runs every January.
You will have the support of a faculty member to explore your communication style and learn the pedagogical foundations specifically applicable to undergraduate math and applied math courses. At the successful completion of this program, you will be able to
- use in-demand and modern instructional techniques in your classrooms,
- develop inclusive and sustainable ways to engage and support your future students effectively and
- articulate your teaching philosophy.
You will gain hands-on classroom teaching experience by giving guest lectures and developing teaching-related components for job applications. These include a teaching statement and a teaching demo that align with your teaching philosophy.
The teaching mentorship program is primarily aimed at graduate students who have passed their candidacy exam, but we welcome all graduate students in the department, including M.Sc. students.
