The successful candidate will have a research focus in applied algebra interpreted in the broadest possible sense, including applications both within and beyond mathematics. They will have an outstanding record of research in the form of publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, as well as awards, invited talks and other scholarly achievements, as appropriate for their career path and stage. Success in attracting external research funding would be an asset.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and research supervision at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and mentorship, and experience in providing other high-impact learning experiences will be considered strong assets. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in service to the University and to the profession. The Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences, in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, Faculty of Science at Western University is pleased to announce a search for a 3-year limited-term Lecturer or Assistant Professor position in Data Science, which may be renewable. The rank and salary will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience. The starting date will be July 1, 2022.
The successful candidate is expected to teach Data Science and Statistics courses at the under- graduate level. They will provide leadership for the undergraduate Data Science program of the Department and be actively involved in the recently introduced Data Science courses offered to our campus community.
Applicants must possess a PhD in Mathematics or a closely related area. Applicants from all areas of mathematics and applied mathematics are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with research connections to Data Science and existing research interests in the department.

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Western Ontario expects to have one or more postdoctoral positions available, in any area of Mathematics that is represented within the Department. Information about the Department can be found at www.math.uwo.ca. Each position has a two-year term with a flexible start date of July 1, 2022. The salary will be $55,000 CDN per year, plus a tax-free research fund of $1,500 per year. The positions will involve teaching two one-semester courses per year, in addition to research. Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in July 2019 or later. The filling of these positions is subject to budgetary considerations
